SOPHIE ARTWORK

Here are two new pieces from Sophie. I found these in a huge pile of drawings she's been working on lately at home. One is a Halloween picture of a ghost flying over a pumpkin patch. The other is our family; Jon, Laurie, Sophie and little Lexy. It seems like Sophie has all of a sudden gone from drawing scribbles to drawing objects with all of their parts; arms, eyes, striped shirts, etc. We are going through a lot of paper, but I love the things she draws!

The Skeleton Dance (1929)

Only two weeks until Halloween- one of my favourite days of the year! I love this Disney movie, released all the way back in 1929.

GOOD EATS

After years of basic cable (which means you turn the TV off when you can't find something to watch) we recently upgraded to what they are calling 'Classic Cable' (which means you stay up three hours later than you wanted to because you know that if you just stick it out and switch through every chanel nine times you WILL find something good). But anyhow, we now have some decent cooking/food channels. So when our dear (and departed... for Mexico) friends gave us a bag of their homemade almond pesto I knew exactly what I wanted to try. I whipped up a simple pizza dough and topped it with the pesto. Then I added thinly sliced butter and garlic sauteed potato, sliced shallots, smokey bacon, cottage, cheddar, and mozzarella cheeses. It was so tasty it's been added to the Langille Family List of Favourites. Try it!

MY CUTIES

Every photo is a good one when it comes to these two. I am such a proud mom.

THANKSGIVING

Here's a little piece of art that Sophie did at preschool. You'll notice the feathers made from hand prints and the body from feet. Too cute! Any suggestions on art storage? I'm sure this is the first of thousands of pieces I won't be able to throw away.

TIME

I just took this photo of Jon and Sophie the other morning and it reminded me of the first couple days home from the hospital after Sophie was born. That will be three years ago on Saturday and I cannot believe how quickly the time has passed. I can't believe she was ever that small!

DOES THIS SAY 'SOPHIE' - OR WHAT?

SCHOOL

Sophie has started preschool at Mountain Montessori out at 6-Mile. She's taken to it really well and is starting to get past her shyness and is having a really good time. They have been working on lots af autumn- inspired crafts and Sophie is looking forward to dressing up for Halloween day at the end of the month. The sense of independence and responsibilty that is expected of her at school has really rubbed off and she is even more of a big help at home.
